The project consisted of site development of a 500 acre home site development. Ferreira Construction dredged a 180 acre fresh water lake on the edge of the Everglades in Parkland, Florida removing 1,650,000 cubic yards of material. Exploratory pre- construction testing was performed to maximize use of dredged material for the project owner. More than 580,000 cubic yards of silt material was separated by washing silt fines, leaving 1,238,000 cubic yards of suitable material to raise and build home sites. Three containment cells were constructed on site that covered 48 acres with an average depth of 12 feet. Dredging was performed with a 16” Ellicott 1170 and 14” Ellicott 600.
