It is the 2.5-mile, three-stage reconstruction and widening of Route 1 from Edison and Woodbridge Townships in New Jersey. Ferreira constructed a three-lane, shouldered highway in both directions. The new roadway also contains auxiliary lanes. The County Route 501 Interchange at Amboy Avenue was reinforced with structural improvements, and the existing Amboy Avenue bridge substructure was widened and replaced—in three stages. Ferreira demolished an abandoned Conrail bridge and replaced it with a modern, fiberglass-enclosed pedestrian arcade with a sky roof. Intersection improvements at Grandview Avenue, Parsonage Road, Lafayette Avenue and Ford Avenue included new ramps, traffic signals and highway lighting. Ferreira also laid four miles of multi-duct conduit and seven miles of fiber optic cable.
