HIGHLIGHTS:

Removal of existing pedestrian bridge over the FDR accomplished within a 5 hour timeframe at night

Value engineering of the waterfront ramp keeping the project on-time and under budget

This project consisted of the removal the existing 150 ton concrete pedestrian bridge over the FDR Drive and the installation of a new pre-fabricated 80-ton structural steel bridge.

The work was accomplished at night within a 2 to 5 hour timeframe with complete closures of the FDR Drive. Utilizing a 500 ton barge mounted crane, both approach ramps were removed and replaced in compliance with ADA requirements. The waterfront ramp is supported on 12” diameter mini-cassions that were value engineered into the project by Ferreira Construction.
