Burnt Mills Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Location:
Bedminster Township, NJ
Owner:
Somerset County
Year Completed:
1995
The Burnt Mills Road Bridge in Bedminster Township, Somerset County, is a single-span, timber deck bridge on concrete abutments over Muddy Run. The bridge was designed by Goodkind & O’Dea, Inc. and rebuilt by Ferreira in 1995. These facts alone do not make this an iconic project, but what does is that the Burnt Mills Bridge was the first project Ferreira was awarded. This project served as the transformation of Ferreira from a trucking company to a multifaceted construction company. The scope of work for this project was to demolish the existing bridge and reconstruct a new timber superstructure bridge. This project remains symbolic to Ferreira employees of our transition. A vision that started in a garage with four employees has grown into a multimillion-dollar company with offices in 5 states and employs over 1,500 people coast to coast. As Ferreira continues to evolve, we never forget our humble beginnings, which all began with a timber bridge.

This was the first bridge constructed by Ferreira Construction, serving as a monumental stepping stone into the company we are in today.
