The Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Council (FSTED) granted funding for cruise terminal improvements as well as securing security funding for the Port of Miami. FSTED recognized that the Port of Miami was one of the fastest-growing container ports in the U.S. and was a vital economic engine in Miami-Dade County and the state.
The funding was used for cruise terminal improvements and upgrades to existing facilities and berths. As well as financing three new cruise terminals over the next 10 years.
Ferreira Southern was the prime contractor and was responsible for the demolition and construction of runway and bollard foundations and tie-downs for future passenger boarding bridges as well as constructing new mooring bollards and hardware for cruise ships at the Miami-Dade County Seaport Department.
Port of Miami is the largest passenger port in the world, averaging around 5 million passengers per year.
