In 2019, the Canyon No. 2 wildfire spread throughout Orange County. The fire caused schools to shut down and forced residents to flee their homes. Once firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire, Caltrans immediately began repairs to the freeways. Ferreira Coastal was subcontracted by Powell Constructors removed and replaced approximately 11,537.5 LF of guardrail and repaired wildlife fencing in the area surrounding the 241 freeway.
