Caltrans Route 210 Electrical Upgrades

The Route 210 overall project was broken into two phases which consisted of widening approximately 10 miles of the 210 freeway through the cities of La Cañada Flintridge, Glendale, and Pasadena, Ferreira Coastal the electrical subcontractor to Powell Constructors, Inc. for both phases of the project. The first phase included ramp metering, vehicle count stations, and lighting modifications in conjunction with the freeway’s widening. The second phase involved the installation of a new fiber optic communication system including mainline fiber and splicing using a rock wheel trencher, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera system, changeable message sign, and traffic monitoring stations along the freeway. Ferreira Coastal also installed new lighting and lighting control systems for three freeway tunnels in the Pasadena area.
