California DOT Barton Road Interchange
City of Grand Terrace, CA
California Department of Transportation
The Barton Road Interchange consisted of improving traffic congestion and lengthening the existing bridge to accommodate future freeway improvements. Ferreira was subcontracted by Myers-Rados JV to perform the electrical portion of the project. Ferreira was responsible for the installation of Caltrans ramp metering systems, traffic signals, fiber optic communication, audio/visual systems, freeway lighting, including the installation of closed circuit television system (CCTV). Additionally, Ferreira self-performed the system acceptance testing and integration.
Ramp metering systems control the flow of traffic with sensors that constantly monitor traffic volumes and speed to limit congestion on the highway.
